Squarespace to Shopify
Squarespace to Shopify migration, for a fixed $1,250
$1,250 · up to 300 products · 3 to 4 weeks · prices in US dollars
The short answer
We move Squarespace stores to Shopify for a fixed $1,250 in US dollars: up to 300 products, your customers and order history, and every Squarespace address redirected to its new page. Squarespace’s export leaves out product images, download products and reviews, so the written scope says what moves, and how, before you agree.
Key facts
As of October 2026
- A Squarespace to Shopify migration costs $1,250 (USD) for up to 300 products and 1,000 variants, typically in 3–4 weeks.
- Squarespace exports physical and service products to CSV, up to 10,000 of them. Download products can’t be exported.
- Squarespace’s product CSV leaves out featured images, variant images, image alt text and reviews.
- Squarespace allows 6 options and 250 variant combinations per product. Shopify allows 3 options and 2,048 variants.
- Squarespace product pages sit at /{store page}/p/{product}. On Shopify they move to /products/{product}, so each one needs a redirect.
- Squarespace gift card balances can only be spent on the Squarespace site that issued them.
What can you export from Squarespace?
Products export to CSV from Products & Services, up to 10,000, but only physical and service products, and without their featured images, variant images, image alt text or reviews. Squarespace can’t export images in bulk, so product photos are gathered separately, and the scope says how.
Customers export to CSV from Lists & Segments, without your notes. Orders export to CSV for active, visible products only. The site export, a WordPress-format file, covers layout pages and one blog with its posts, but not store pages, product blocks or custom CSS.
How do Squarespace addresses map to Shopify?
Squarespace builds addresses from your page slugs; Shopify uses fixed beginnings. So nearly every address changes:
- Products: /{store page}/p/{product} on Squarespace becomes /products/{product} on Shopify.
- Blog posts: /{blog page}/{post} becomes /blogs/{blog}/{post}.
- Pages: /{page} becomes /pages/{page}.
- Squarespace’s own URL mappings work on domains connected to Squarespace. Once your domain points at Shopify, the redirects are set in Shopify, and Shopify’s guide says to set them up in advance.
What can’t come across from Squarespace as it is?
- Product options beyond 3. Squarespace allows 6 options and 250 variant combinations per product; Shopify allows 3 options and 2,048 variants, so products with more than 3 options need restructuring, and the scope says how.
- Add to cart forms. Shopify has no product setting for them, so they’re rebuilt with an app or in the theme.
- Download products. Squarespace can’t export them, and you can’t download your uploaded files back from it, so keep your originals.
- Subscriptions. Squarespace says customers have to resubscribe if the payment processor changes, and Shopify needs subscriptions recreated through its API.
- Gift cards. Squarespace balances can only be spent on the site that issued them. You can download the list of cards sold, to decide how to honour them.
- Reviews. Squarespace can’t export them in any format, and Shopify says they can’t be migrated.
- Member areas. The member list exports, but anything with logins for your customers is quoted separately.
What happens to a domain bought through Squarespace?
You can keep it at Squarespace and point it at Shopify: Squarespace says to remove its default records first and to allow 24 to 48 hours. Or you can transfer it away, which Squarespace says can take up to 15 days. A newly registered domain can be locked against transfer for 60 days, but you can point it in the meantime.
Does Shopify’s own app handle Squarespace?
No. Shopify’s free Store Migration app doesn’t list Squarespace, and Shopify’s own Squarespace guide works with CSV files, third-party apps or a Shopify Partner. It also says customer files need their columns renamed to Shopify’s, because customer imports have no column mapping.
Can I move from Squarespace to Shopify myself?
Yes, with CSV files. Shopify’s Store Migration app doesn’t take Squarespace, but Shopify publishes a step-by-step Squarespace guide. In outline, from Shopify’s and Squarespace’s own help pages:
- Export your products: Products & Services › Products › Export all. Squarespace exports up to 10,000 physical and service products, without their featured images, variant images or alt text.
- Edit the file to match Shopify’s product CSV template, then import it under Products › Import, with Publish new products to all sales channels unticked. Add the images to each product afterwards.
- Export your contacts (Contacts › Export all contacts) and rename the columns to Shopify’s, because its customer import has no column mapping. Then import them under Customers › Import.
- Export your orders if you want them (Products & Services › Orders › Export data). Shopify’s guide brings them in with a third-party app.
- Copy your pages and blog posts across by hand: Squarespace’s site export is a WordPress file, and Shopify can’t import it.
- Set up your theme, shipping, taxes and payments, then place a few test orders.
- Add the redirects before the domain moves, as Shopify advises: in Shopify, Content › Menus › URL redirects, one at a time or by importing a CSV file. Each /{store page}/p/{product} goes to /products/{product}.
- Then connect your domain: in Shopify, Settings › Domains › Connect existing domain, and change the domain’s A and www CNAME records to Shopify’s. Or transfer it to Shopify, with the code from Squarespace’s domains dashboard: switch Domain Lock off, then click Request transfer code. Save a copy of its DNS records first, email (MX) records included, because Shopify doesn’t copy them. A .co.uk domain can’t be transferred to Shopify, so it’s connected instead.
From Shopify’s Squarespace guide, Squarespace’s domain transfer page, Squarespace’s domain pointing page, Shopify’s URL redirects page, Shopify’s page on connecting a domain and Shopify’s page on transferring a domain, checked on 28 October 2026.
When is it worth paying for a move from Squarespace?
Done yourself, much of it is by hand: every product’s images are added again, every customer column renamed, every page and blog post copied, and products with more than 3 options rebuilt.
If your store is small, with simple products and not much search traffic to protect, Shopify’s own steps are enough, and you don’t need us. Paying makes sense when there are hundreds of products to restructure, history to keep, or no time to check it all: the package is $1,250 in US dollars for up to 300 products, with the redirect map, a written rollback and thirty days of fixes.

What else do people ask?
How much does a Squarespace to Shopify migration cost?
$1,250 in US dollars for up to 300 products and 1,000 variants, with the redirect map included. The Shopify subscription and any app fees are separate, and you pay them to Shopify.
How do I transfer my domain from Squarespace to Shopify?
In Squarespace’s domains dashboard, open the domain, switch Domain Lock off and click Request transfer code; Squarespace emails the code to the domain’s registrant within 24 hours. In Shopify, go to Settings › Domains, choose to transfer it and enter the code. Squarespace says a transfer can take up to 15 days. A .co.uk domain can’t be transferred to Shopify, so it’s connected instead.
Will my product photos come across?
Yes, but not through Squarespace’s export, which leaves out featured and variant images. They’re gathered separately, and the scope says how.
What happens to gift cards my customers already bought?
Squarespace says its gift cards can only be spent on the site that issued them, so balances can’t move to Shopify as they are. Squarespace lets you download the list of cards sold, so you can decide how to honour them.
Can I keep my Squarespace reviews?
Not as they are. Squarespace can’t export reviews, and Shopify says they can’t be migrated. Shopify points to review apps for collecting them again.
Will my customers need new passwords?
Passwords never move between platforms: Shopify can’t import them. With Shopify’s current customer accounts there’s no password to set, because customers sign in with a one-time code sent by email.
