Shopify cost calculator for the US, the UK and Canada

The short answer

On Shopify’s own pricing pages (checked 27 October 2026), the Basic plan costs US$25 a month in the US, £25 in the UK and CA$49 in Canada, before card fees on each sale and any paid apps. Sales tax, VAT or GST/HST goes to the tax authority, not to Shopify. Having us build the store costs US$1,250, once.

Key facts

As of October 2026

  • Shopify Basic costs US$25 a month in the US, £25 in the UK and CA$49 in Canada, or US$19, £19 and CA$37 a month paid yearly.

Can I put this calculator on my website?

Yes, free, and you have our permission, as long as you keep the credit line that comes with the code, which names us and links back here. You may mark that link as you choose, for example with rel="nofollow". The calculator loads from our site, and we set no cookies in it and run no tracking.

Shopify’s figures are re-checked every quarter, and the embedded calculator always shows the latest. To start it on one country, add ?c=uk, ?c=us or ?c=ca to the address in the code.

How does the calculator work it out?

It adds up what Shopify and your apps charge each month, in your country’s currency: the plan, at the monthly price or the yearly price spread over 12 months; the paid apps you enter; and the fees on your sales.

With Shopify Payments, card fees are your sales times your plan’s online card rate, plus the fixed fee on each order. With another payment provider, it adds Shopify’s own fee for your plan instead, 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow or 0.6% on Advanced, and that provider’s charges come on top.

Sales tax, VAT or GST/HST is shown on its own line, because it’s charged to your customers and paid to the tax authority, not to Shopify. The one-off costs, a paid theme, a domain and the build, are in US dollars, as Shopify and we price them, and nothing is converted between currencies.

Why doesn’t it show US card fees?

Shopify’s US pricing page doesn’t list its card rates (checked 27 October 2026), and we don’t print a figure we can’t source. Enter the rate Shopify gives you, and the calculator adds the card fees to your total.

How do I use the calculator?

  1. 01

    Pick your country

The United States, the United Kingdom or Canada. Each has its own plan prices, fees and tax.

  2. 02

    Pick a plan

Basic, Grow or Advanced, paid monthly or for a year up front.

  3. 03

    Enter your sales

What you expect to sell online in a month, before tax, and how many orders that is.

  4. 04

    Add apps and tax

The monthly price of each paid app you need, and your tax rate or province.

  5. 05

    Choose who builds it

Yourself, or us at a fixed price. Then copy a link to keep or share your figures.

What’s in the sum, and what isn’t?

In the sum

  • Shopify’s Basic, Grow and Advanced plans, monthly or yearly
  • Online card fees through Shopify Payments, in the UK and Canada
  • Shopify’s fee when you use another payment provider
  • The paid apps you enter
  • Sales tax, VAT or GST/HST on your sales, on its own line
  • A paid theme, a domain through Shopify, and our fixed build price, in US dollars

Not in the sum

  • Shopify Plus, which is priced from a starting figure
  • Amex, international and in-person card rates, which differ from the online standard rate
  • Your own payment provider’s fees
  • Shipping, shipping labels, and apps that charge by use
  • Shopify’s trial offer, and any discount Shopify gives you
  • Currency conversion, and tax on Shopify’s own bill
  • Tax advice: whether you must register, and what rate applies to what you sell, is for you or your accountant

Where do these platform facts come from?

From each platform’s own documentation, checked on 27 October 2026 and re-checked every quarter. Platforms change their features, so check the linked page before you rely on one.

What else do people ask?

How much does Shopify cost a month?

On Basic, US$25 in the US, £25 in the UK and CA$49 in Canada, paid monthly, or US$19, £19 and CA$37 a month paid yearly, from Shopify’s pricing pages checked 27 October 2026. Card fees on each sale, paid apps and a domain come on top.

Are Shopify’s card fees the same in every country?

No. On Basic, online standard cards cost 2% + 25p in the UK and 2.8% + CA$0.30 in Canada, and the rate falls on the higher plans. Shopify’s US pricing page doesn’t list its rates.

Is sales tax, VAT or GST/HST a cost to my business?

It’s collected from your customers and passed to the tax authority, so the calculator shows it apart from what Shopify charges you. Whether you must register, and which rate applies, depends on where your business is based, your sales and what you sell. We set up Shopify’s tax settings with you, but we don’t give tax advice.

Is the Shopify subscription included in your US$1,250?

No. You pay Shopify directly for the plan. App subscriptions are separate too, each one named and priced before you agree to it, and so is a paid theme licence if the design needs one.

Why is your price in US dollars?

Our prices are fixed in US dollars for every country, so one service has one price everywhere. What it comes to in pounds or Canadian dollars depends on the exchange rate on the day you pay.

Can I share my figures?

Yes. The “Copy a link to these figures” button copies a link with your figures in it, so whoever opens it sees the same ones. The calculator doesn’t save what you enter: it’s only in the link you copy.
